Explore the joys of true mixed media in this workshop as we combine collage, drawing and painting to create these adorable little “Spring Peepers.”

Salem Artist Glenda Goodrich, “GG” is your guide into this fun exploration into window collage technique. Decorative and handmade papers, pencils, markers and paints are your materials for this workshop.

Beginners welcome. If you can tear, cut, and paste, GG will guide you through the rest. Once you’ve learned the technique, you can continue to make more window collages on your own.

Kintsugi Breaking and Mending

Check back for dates in 2021

In this workshop we will honor the art of Kintsugi as a metaphor for what brokenness lives in ourselves, our world and in our Mother Earth, to acknowledge and honor our grief and find the beauty that resides there.

Kintsugi (“golden joinery”), is the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. As a philosophy, Kintsugi treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. It encompasses a philosophy of living, of finding beauty within the imperfections of life, and peacefully accepting the natural cycle of growth and decay.

Many of us are living with broken hearts from the personal losses we’ve experienced and the devastation of our Mother Earth. We accumulate grief and carry it with us, often unseen and unexpressed. But grief can be a storehouse of power, a way to reconnect with how we love and honor what came before. Grief can help us find the beauty in our brokenness, while opening us to loving more and being of service in the world.

Come break and mend your Kintsugi bowl, and honor the place in you where grief, gratitude, and beauty coexist.

Shrines for Hope and Healing

GG’s Down to Earth Studio, Salem, OR
(Check back for upcoming dates in 2021)

Shrines are a beautiful way of showing what is happening in our hearts, souls and spirits. We will gather and transform our LOVE into visual expression by creating our own personal shrines for hope and healing. Your shrine can be dedicated to the environment, diversity of all species, return of the great feminine, your ancestors, your higher power, your spiritual practice, or to simply heal your broken heart…whatever moves you.

Come and create in the abundance of plentiful materials available in the Down to Earth Studio, from small Altoid-tin shrines to larger wood-framed shrines. Bring your own icons, talismans, or charms, and an idea for what you want to create, and I will help you bring your imaginative ideas to life. Or, come as a blank slate and we will explore your theme together.

“Glenda is one of the most Sacred Inspirers I have had the pleasure to learn from.  She walks her talk and facilitates her classes with love, honoring and beauty.  Her sacred enthusiasm is infectious and her deep and meaningful blogs (sharing) go straight to my heart. Over the years I have wished that I lived closer to her city so that I could participate more often in her classes and Soul Collage gatherings, but now—who would guess—that this life altering pandemic we are in the midst of would make them more accessible.  Thank you Zoom and modern technology.  And thank you Glenda for your gifts and for being HERE NOW.”
